A modern-spelling script, used for our weekly read-throughs, can be downloaded by clicking here. The third play from the York Corpus Christi Plays deals with the creation of the first people- Adam and Eve. It is based on the second Chapter of Genesis. God gives his reasons for creating Adam and Eve- to care for the earth, to love God, and be loved in turn. The play was originally performed by the Cardmakers- who made the devices used for turning raw wool into something useable. The original script, in 15th Century Middle English, can be found here, courtesy of Prof. Clifford Davidson and the University of Rochester's TEAMS Middle English Text Series.
